About the Oktemberfest 5K
The course runs through historic downtown Marshalltown, along paved streets past the Marshall County Courthouse Square. It is flat city running, the kind that lets you look around at the architecture rather than watch your footing. The finish drops you right into the Oktemberfest festival grounds, where food vendors, live music, and carnival rides are already setting up around you.
The race runs on the morning of the festival's main day, so the streets have that early-hour quiet before the grand parade fills them. Finishing early leaves plenty of time to stake out a good spot along the parade route before the crowds settle in.
