About the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival 5K Run and Walk

The course winds through downtown Marietta, crossing over and ducking under bridges, passing through tunnels, and finishing along a paved trail that runs beside the river. It is a road course with real variety to it, the surroundings keep changing, and spectators can find plenty of spots to watch.

Race-morning registration opens well before the start at the park gazebo on Front Street. Kids under middle-school age can join a short sprint on the day without pre-registering. Awards go out as results come in rather than at a formal ceremony at the end.

Common Questions About the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival 5K Run and Walk

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 31:49, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:58, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival 5K Run and Walk a good first 3.1 Miles?

How competitive is the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival 5K Run and Walk?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:00 while the median finisher took 31:49. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
