About the North Reading 5k Turkey Trot
The race runs on Thanksgiving morning out of Ipswich River Park, starting and finishing in the park's paved lot near a gazebo. The course is a road race through the neighborhood, and the atmosphere skews young, partly because local elementary schools run a participation challenge that brings out a lot of families with kids.
Bib pickup happens the weekend before at a running store in Reading, and again at the middle and high school cafeteria the evening before the race. On race day, volunteers direct parking inside the park. The park's main entrance closes before the start, so vehicles enter near the Recreation Center on Central Street.
