About the North Buncombe Middle School Chilly Challenge 5K & 1-Mile Chili Chase
This race runs through Weaverville and benefits a local middle school. There are a couple of distance options, one a short fun run and one a standard road race length, so people tend to bring the whole family. The setup has a school-fundraiser feel to it, neighborly and unpretentious.
A chili lunch is served after the race, which fits the winter timing well. Beyond that, the organizer's notes are spare, so come ready for a cold morning and plan to warm up at the finish with a bowl.
