The course runs out and back along a bike path starting from Sunset Marina, which keeps it sheltered and fast. It is the kind of surface where you can find a rhythm early and hold it. Before the race goes off, there is a brief ceremony honoring past members of the Cornbelt Running Club, which gives the morning a quieter, more personal feel than most local road races.
Packet pickup the day before is at the Cornbelt Running Club office in Davenport, with race-morning pickup available at the marina shelter. After the race, there is a breakfast buffet, and awards are handed out during the meal rather than at a separate ceremony.
