About the Morris Hill Meltdown

Morris Hill is a single unrelenting climb, point to point, with no flat stretches to recover on. The road twists as it rises, gaining serious elevation the whole way, and the organizer is upfront that crawling counts. It is the kind of effort that ends abruptly at the top rather than easing you into a finish line.

Packet pickup is at the Monticello Farmers Market, which also serves as the post-race gathering point. A guided walk from there gets you to the start. After the race, you can walk back or catch a shuttle. The market itself runs that same morning, with local food vendors, a froyo shop, a coffee shop, and a bookstore all open nearby.

Common Questions About the Morris Hill Meltdown

Will I finish last at the Morris Hill Meltdown?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1.1 Miles field finished slower than 15:23, and the last recorded finisher came in around 29:10, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Morris Hill Meltdown a good first 1.1 Miles?

It is a small race (37 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Morris Hill Meltdown?

The 1.1 Miles winner ran 8:52 while the median finisher took 15:23. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
