About the Luke's Diner Dash
This is an evening run through downtown Monticello, under Christmas lights and holiday decorations strung along the streets. The course is flat and fast, which makes it friendly for anyone going after a personal best, but the lit-up surroundings give it more of a stroll-through-a-holiday-card feel than a hard effort.
Before the run, there is a Gilmore Girls-themed holiday market in the downtown area with vendors and festive shopping. Race proceeds go entirely to a local warming center that provides shelter, sleep, and hot food to people in need, so the evening has a clear purpose beyond the miles.
