About the Morally Grey 5K Run/Walk
The course runs along the Little Traverse Wheel Way, a paved pathway that follows the waterfront in Petoskey. The route is smooth underfoot with no significant elevation, and the waterfront setting gives it an open, airy feel. The race has a Halloween theme built around morally gray and villainous characters, so costumes are common, though nobody is required to dress up.
The race benefits literacy efforts in the region, with proceeds going to a local family coalition. It draws a wide range of participants, from runners pushing the pace to walkers in full costume. Post-race, the gathering at Waterfront Park tends to feel like a continuation of Halloween rather than a wind-down.
