About the Wolverine State 100

The course crosses the lower peninsula from west to east, linking two Great Lakes shores across a long stretch of trail. Underfoot you get single-track, gravel, limestone paths, and seasonal roads, so the surface keeps changing. The longest distance runs point-to-point, while the shortest turns around in Alpena and heads back out the same way.

The organizers describe the course as approachable for first-timers while still being a genuine challenge, and the aid stations are spaced to keep you moving without long unsupported stretches. Runners who finish the full hundred-mile distance under a day's time earn special recognition at the finish.
