About the Montana Marathon
The marathon starts in the small town of Molt, out on the rolling plains, and runs point-to-point into downtown Billings. The course descends the whole way, dropping steadily through open ranch land with wide views of the surrounding mountains. The early miles roll through green hills before the route tips downward in earnest, and shorter distances join in along the way, thickening the crowd as the city gets closer.
Shuttles run from a high school parking lot on Grand Avenue to the various start lines, and that is how most runners get to the start, since parking near several of the starts is limited or nonexistent. Packet pickup the day before is the main window; race-morning pickup is available only for out-of-town runners who missed it.
