About the Monster Dash 5K & Lil' Monsters Fun Run
The race runs through Raccoon River Park on Halloween-themed trails, so there is tree cover and a natural surface underfoot rather than pavement. A costume contest happens before the start, and a kids fun run runs alongside the main event, so the crowd at the start line tends to include a fair number of elaborate outfits and families with young children.
Raccoon River Park has its own parking, and the start area is within the park. Post-race there are costume awards, so if you put effort into your outfit, stick around after you finish.
