About the “Moie Brown Memorial" Run for the Health of It

The courses start and finish at a hospital campus on the edge of Saint Ignace. Both options follow roads out past the airport, where there is a small hill before a downhill return. The shorter route loops around a neighboring care facility before the finish; the longer one extends out through a few residential streets and turns back from there. Underfoot it is all pavement.

This race runs alongside the town's Fall Fest, so there is more happening in Saint Ignace that morning than just the run. A color run element is part of the event, and root beer floats are available at the finish. Race-morning registration opens before the start, so late deciders can still get in.

Common Questions About the “Moie Brown Memorial" Run for the Health of It

Will I finish last at the “Moie Brown Memorial" Run for the Health of It?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 36:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 47:06, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the “Moie Brown Memorial" Run for the Health of It a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (22 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the “Moie Brown Memorial" Run for the Health of It?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 25:54 while the median finisher took 36:35. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
