About the Minute Man Race
The Minute Man Race runs at Compo Beach, so the setting is right on the water. The course is USATF-certified, which means it has been measured precisely. There are several distance options, from a short kids dash up through the longest run, so families tend to show up together and split off at different start lines.
The event is put on by the Women's League of Westport, and the proceeds go toward a grants program that supports local charities. A kids activity zone runs alongside the races, so there is something happening on the beach beyond the running itself. It has been going long enough to be a genuine annual fixture in Westport.
