About the Minocqua "No Frills" Marathon
The course runs out and back on the Bearskin Trail, a paved rail trail that cuts through the north woods outside downtown Minocqua. It starts downtown and turns around somewhere deep in the trees before finishing on a railroad trestle. The surroundings are quiet and forested, and the surface is smooth underfoot.
Packet pickup is the evening before and again early race morning, both at the American Legion in downtown Minocqua. Runners who need extra time on the course can arrange an early start, though those starters are not eligible for overall awards. Bring a headlamp if you go out early; it is genuinely dark on the trail through the trees.
