About the Miami Valley School Run for the Rams 5K

The course starts on a school campus, heads out into a nearby residential neighborhood, and turns around at a working farm before looping back the way it came. It is an out-and-back, so the return feels familiar, and the farm at the midpoint gives the route a genuinely rural stretch in the middle of an otherwise suburban run.

The race is timed to coincide with the school's homecoming, so there is plenty happening after you finish. Soccer and volleyball matches get underway nearby, and a family activity zone stays open through the afternoon. The post-race scene on campus gives you a reason to linger.

Common Questions About the Miami Valley School Run for the Rams 5K

Will I finish last at the Miami Valley School Run for the Rams 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 43:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:00:17, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Miami Valley School Run for the Rams 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (66 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Miami Valley School Run for the Rams 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:42 while the median finisher took 43:35. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
