About the ME STRONG 5K

The ME STRONG 5K runs through downtown DeLand as a fundraiser for people in the community who are going through cancer treatment. Race proceeds go toward household bills for those battling cancer, so the finish line has real weight behind it. The course starts in front of the historic county courthouse on Indiana Avenue.

Packet pickup runs the two days before the race at a venue in downtown DeLand, with race-morning pickup available at the courthouse start area.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a big field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the ME STRONG 5K

Will I finish last at the ME STRONG 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 54:30, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:35:10, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the ME STRONG 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

With 5,567 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the ME STRONG 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:47 while the median finisher took 54:30. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
