About the McDougal Lake Trail Fest

The trail runs at McDougal Lake circle through wooded terrain around the lake itself. The courses share the same loop, so shorter and longer distances run the same ground, with the lake visible through the trees for much of it. It is a trail race in the true sense, dirt underfoot, not a paved path with a trail label on it.

Common Questions About the McDougal Lake Trail Fest

Will I finish last at the McDougal Lake Trail Fest?

Almost certainly not. Half the 4 Miles field finished slower than 46:53, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:20:29, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the McDougal Lake Trail Fest a good first 4 Miles?

It is a small race (33 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 4 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the McDougal Lake Trail Fest?

The 4 Miles winner ran 29:06 while the median finisher took 46:53. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
