About the May the 4th- Kessel Run 5k
This is a night race through downtown Houma, run under glow and with costumes strongly encouraged. The course winds through city streets after dark, which gives it a different feel than a typical weekend morning road race. The Star Wars theme is taken seriously by the crowd, and the energy from people in costume along the route is part of the experience.
The race is part of a larger festival happening the same evening, so there is plenty to do before and after. A cook-off, a costume competition, and live music are all on the grounds. Arriving early gives you time to take it all in before the start.
