About the LV5K & 1 Mile Walk/Run

The race starts and finishes at a high school football field. It honors a young woman who died in an impaired driving crash, and the entry fees support a nursing scholarship in her name. The course offers a shorter walk/run option alongside the full road race, and a virtual participation path is open to people who cannot make it in person.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at a local bakery on Jackson Street. Race-morning pickup is also available before the first wave goes off. Awards are presented immediately after the final race finishes, with placements recognized across a broad range of age groups for both distances.

Common Questions About the LV5K & 1 Mile Walk/Run

Will I finish last at the LV5K & 1 Mile Walk/Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 40:02, and the last recorded finisher came in around 59:07, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the LV5K & 1 Mile Walk/Run a good first 5K?

A field of 349 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the LV5K & 1 Mile Walk/Run?

The 5K winner ran 17:07 while the median finisher took 40:02. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
