About the Luau 5K, & 13.1M at Hickory, NC (18)
The courses here are out-and-back routes run on a trail near a VFW hall. Both distances use the same stretch of path, repeated in loops, so you get to know the terrain well by the end. The surface appears to be a paved or packed trail, and the layout is simple enough to follow without much navigation.
Packet pickup opens shortly before the start and closes a few minutes before the gun. There is no morning-of registration, so pre-registering ahead of time is required. Parking and restrooms are at the trailhead, while the start line sits just north of the VFW, on the far side of the street.
