About the LOZ Oktoberfest 5k & 1/2 k

The race starts and finishes at a brewery in Osage Beach, which sets the tone for the whole morning. There are two distance options, one a genuine 5k and the other a very short novelty route that lands somewhere around a third of a mile. A beer coupon at the finish gives you a reason to stick around after you cross the line.

The brewery serves as both the start area and the post-race gathering spot, so there is no real separation between the race and the celebration. Proceeds go to local causes through the organizing group behind the event.

Common Questions About the LOZ Oktoberfest 5k & 1/2 k

Will I finish last at the LOZ Oktoberfest 5k & 1/2 k?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 37:19, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the LOZ Oktoberfest 5k & 1/2 k a good first race?

It is a small race (20 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the LOZ Oktoberfest 5k & 1/2 k?

The race winner ran 17:38 while the median finisher took 37:19. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
