About the LifeAct's Move for Mental Health 5K Run

The course runs through the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, so the surroundings are more interesting than a typical road race. Animals and enclosures line the route, and families tend to be out in force. After finishing, runners can stay and walk the rest of the zoo grounds for the day, which makes the morning stretch well past the finish line.

Packet pickup opens before the start on race morning, so there is no separate trip the day before. The post-race area has a health and wellness fair with booths from local organizations, plus music and snacks.

Common Questions About the LifeAct's Move for Mental Health 5K Run

Will I finish last at the LifeAct's Move for Mental Health 5K Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:04, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:10:44, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the LifeAct's Move for Mental Health 5K Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (158 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the LifeAct's Move for Mental Health 5K Run?

The 5K winner ran 16:05 while the median finisher took 33:04. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
