About the Leah's 5K Run/Walk And 1K Kids "Spooktacular" Fun Run
This Halloween race in Wappingers Falls is built around costumes as much as running. Showing up in costume is strongly encouraged, and there is a costume contest with prizes for the best dressed among adults and kids. The course is a standard road distance, and the morning draws people out to move together in support of blood cancer research through Blood Cancer United.
The kids' fun run goes first, so families with younger children finish early and can cheer the main field. The race honors Leah, a local girl diagnosed with leukemia as a young child, and proceeds benefit Blood Cancer United, which supports patients and their families through treatment and beyond.
