About the LAPD Foothill Fitness Run
The course runs through Hansen Dam Aquatic Center on a mix of pavement and trail, so the ground shifts under your feet as you go. It is not a pure road race and not a pure trail race. The surroundings are open and park-like, and the event is tied to youth programs out of the local police station, which shapes the atmosphere on race morning.
Packet pickup runs the day before at Pacoima City Hall, with a second window on race morning. The opening ceremony kicks things off before the first wave goes out, so plan to arrive with time to spare. Western attire is apparently welcome, which tells you something about the tone of the morning.
