About the 13th Annual Lakeland Regional Promise Run

The course winds through downtown Lakeland along the historic streets that ring the city's scenic lakes. It is a certified course, and the terrain is consistent with what you'd expect from a flat lakeside promenade area, with open views of the water for much of the route. A kids' run follows after the main races wrap up.

Packet pickup runs on the two days before the race and on race morning at the start area near Lake Mirror Promenade. For pre-race pickup, the location is the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion on Lakeland Hills Boulevard. A couple of nearby parking garages are free on weekends, and the one closest to the start and finish is on Iowa Street.

Common Questions About the 13th Annual Lakeland Regional Promise Run

Will I finish last at the 13th Annual Lakeland Regional Promise Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 48:49, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:13:33, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 13th Annual Lakeland Regional Promise Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

With 894 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 13th Annual Lakeland Regional Promise Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:32 while the median finisher took 48:49. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
