McKinney Roughs Nature Park sits along the Colorado River and holds a genuinely varied landscape. The trails move through box canyons, pine forest, wildflower meadows, and river bluffs, so the terrain shifts beneath you throughout the run. Expect technical single-track with real elevation, not a groomed path, and overlooks where the Colorado opens up below the ridgeline.
The park draws from several distinct ecosystems packed into one preserve, which means the surroundings change noticeably as you move through. Several distance options make it accessible to trail newcomers and ultra runners alike. Aid stations along the course are stocked with water, electrolytes, and snacks.
