About the Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue 5K Meow-A-Thon and 1 Mile Whisker Walk
The course runs through Veterans Park in Hoover, mixing fields, trails, and pavement, so the surface changes underfoot as you go. It is not a single-surface grind. The race benefits a no-kill, cage-free cat shelter, and that mission tends to bring out a crowd that is more interested in the cause than the clock.
Packet pickup the evening before is at the shelter itself on Old Columbiana Road, which is a nice touch if you want to see the cats. Race-morning pickup opens when check-in starts at the park. The shorter walk option is staggered after the longer race finishes, so families can do both distances in one morning.
