About the Kaylan's Warrior Fun Run
The in-person race takes place at Kapapapuhi Point Park in Ewa Beach, a waterfront spot on Oahu's west side. The event is held in memory of Kaylan Haywood, a young girl who had a rare and aggressive brain tumor, and the morning raises money for families on the island going through the same diagnosis, as well as research toward a cure.
A virtual option lets people anywhere in the world participate on their own routes during the same month. Organizers ask virtual runners to send in photos from wherever they run, and they share them as a way of showing how far the support reaches.
