About the Jumping Mouse Turkey Trot
The course runs along the Larry Scott Trail, a flat path that makes for an easy, pleasant route on what is usually a crisp fall morning. It is dog-friendly and stroller-friendly, so the crowd tends to be a mix of solo runners and whole families out together. The race benefits a local children's mental health center, which gives the morning a neighborly weight beyond just finishing a course.
Parking is available at a park-and-ride lot a short walk from the start at the Port Townsend Boat Haven. Sidewalks and signs connect the two, so the walk in is straightforward even if you are wrangling a dog or a stroller.
