Jingle Bell 5.3 Miler

Newtown, PA

5.3 Miles

About the Jingle Bell 5.3 Miler

The course runs the back section of Tyler State Park, looping in a counterclockwise direction through wooded park terrain that feels removed from the busier areas. Runners tend to show up in holiday costume, jingle bells, ugly sweaters, and festive hats, so the field has a certain look to it even on cold winter mornings.

This race is part of a longer weekly winter series run by a local running club, but single-race entry is available and handled on-site on race day, so no advance registration is needed if you just want to show up and run one. Series competitors have additional requirements around volunteering, but casual participants can keep it simple.

Common Questions About the Jingle Bell 5.3 Miler

Will I finish last at the Jingle Bell 5.3 Miler?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5.3 Miles field finished slower than 49:25, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:23:39, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Jingle Bell 5.3 Miler a good first 5.3 Miles?

A field of 315 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5.3 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Jingle Bell 5.3 Miler?

The 5.3 Miles winner ran 28:39 while the median finisher took 49:25. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
