About the Irvine/Orange County Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile

The course runs around the perimeter of a college campus, passing citrus groves and pumpkin patches along the way. Spectators can catch runners heading out and again on the return, since the route loops back to where it began. The terrain is flat throughout, and the path works for walkers and strollers as well as runners pushing for a fast time.

A kids' race series follows the main event, with distances scaled down by age group and adults welcome to run alongside. The campus setting gives the morning some room to spread out, which helps given that parking takes time and the organizers ask everyone to arrive early. Pumpkin pie is waiting at the finish line.

Common Questions About the Irvine/Orange County Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile

Will I finish last at the Irvine/Orange County Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.11 Miles field finished slower than 35:01, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:20:00, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Irvine/Orange County Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile a good first 3.11 Miles?

With 3,046 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.11 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Irvine/Orange County Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile?

The 3.11 Miles winner ran 15:32 while the median finisher took 35:01. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
