About the Impact Road Race 5K

The course runs on open roads through Oak Mountain State Park, so expect real pavement with traffic still moving alongside you. The race is USATF-certified, which means the distances are measured properly and times here can count toward qualifying for other certified events. Several distance options make it work for a range of goals on the same morning.

The start area opens well before the gun for packet pickup, so there is no scramble if you arrive early. Post-race, a local nonprofit called Seeds of Impact is the reason the event exists; it supports mothers in recovery through parenting education, so the gathering at the finish tends to feel purposeful rather than purely athletic.

Common Questions About the Impact Road Race 5K

Will I finish last at the Impact Road Race 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 33:41, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Impact Road Race 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (29 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Impact Road Race 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:52 while the median finisher took 33:41. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
