About the Howlin' Coyote Canicross Trail Race

This is a trail race inside Caledon State Park, with terrain that shifts underfoot and enough elevation change to make it feel like a genuine workout. Dogs run with their people here, on a leash, as part of the standard entry. The course runs cup-free, and each runner gets a reusable cup to carry to the aid stations.

Entry fees go toward natural resources work and educational programs at the park, so the race has a conservation purpose behind it. The dog-friendly policy has its own rules: leashes stay short, and off-leash running is not allowed at any point on the course.

Common Questions About the Howlin' Coyote Canicross Trail Race

Will I finish last at the Howlin' Coyote Canicross Trail Race?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 1:06:13, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:23:31, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Howlin' Coyote Canicross Trail Race a good first 10K?

It is a small race (22 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Howlin' Coyote Canicross Trail Race?

The 10K winner ran 42:31 while the median finisher took 1:06:13. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
