About the Howl-o-ween 5k - Schaumburg
The course runs out and back on the Busse Woods Trail, a paved path that stays mostly flat through wooded surroundings. Dogs on leashes are welcome, which shapes the whole feel of the morning: expect a mix of runners and their pets sharing the trail with the occasional biker or pedestrian passing through.
All packet pickup is on race morning, so plan to get there a bit early rather than the evening before. The finish line puts out treats for dogs alongside the spread for people.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
