About the Hot Fudge Sundae Run

The courses run through Woodward Park, with a shorter option and a longer one for runners who want more ground covered. The draw is straightforward: finish and there is a hot fudge sundae tent waiting. It is a genuine post-race reason to be there, not just a table of bananas and water.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at a Fleet Feet store, with a second window on race morning at the park's group activity area before the start. Both options are available, so you are not locked into the day-before trip if your weekend is tight.

Common Questions About the Hot Fudge Sundae Run

Will I finish last at the Hot Fudge Sundae Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:23, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:12:02, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hot Fudge Sundae Run a good first 5K?

A field of 651 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hot Fudge Sundae Run?

The 5K winner ran 16:14 while the median finisher took 36:23. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
