About the Honey Bee Hustle

The Honey Bee Hustle is a loop-based time challenge rather than a point-to-point race. You run as many laps of the course as you can within the time window, so the goal shifts depending on who you are: some people are chasing distance, others are going for speed. The course is a single repeating loop, and awards cover different categories.

Packet pickup happens on-site right before the start. The race is part of a larger Honey Festival, so the surrounding area has live music and a farmer's market running through the morning. It is more of an event day than a standalone race morning.

Common Questions About the Honey Bee Hustle

Will I finish last at the Honey Bee Hustle?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 1:27:13, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:28:54, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Honey Bee Hustle a good first race?

It is a small race (11 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Honey Bee Hustle?

The race winner ran 1:09:30 while the median finisher took 1:27:13. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
