About the Homerun for the Homeless

The course runs through downtown El Paso before finishing inside a minor league ballpark, which gives it an unusual ending. You cross the finish on the warning track or field level, with the stadium around you. A kids' dash runs on the infield separately, and a sponsor expo sets up at the finish area.

Packet pickup is the evening before at a local running store on Mesa Street. Race-morning pickup is available at the ballpark, but competitive runners must register in advance; no race-day entry exists for that category. Paid parking is nearby at city meters, a plaza terminal, and the convention center garage. Snacks and water are at the finish.

Common Questions About the Homerun for the Homeless

Will I finish last at the Homerun for the Homeless?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 32:57, and the last recorded finisher came in around 8:24:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Homerun for the Homeless a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 317 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Homerun for the Homeless?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 14:56 while the median finisher took 32:57. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
