About the Home Town Heros 5k and Fun Run
The race starts and finishes at Cumming City Center, putting you in the middle of a purpose-built civic space. It is organized by the Forsyth County Fire Department, and that connection shows in the atmosphere. The shorter fun run option means younger kids and families tend to be out in force alongside the 5K field.
Race-day check-in is at the same location as the start and finish, so there is no separate pickup stop to plan around. Proceeds go to a nonprofit that supports first responders and public safety employees who face serious injuries or sudden family hardships, which gives the post-race scene a weight beyond a typical charity run.
