About the Holy Ghost Creole Festival 5K & 1 Mile
The race starts and finishes in the back parking lot of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, on Congress Street. The course is an out-and-back through Opelousas, and several distance options mean the field covers a range of paces. The church sits just past the railroad tracks on Union Street, so the surroundings feel very much like the middle of town.
Packet pickup happens race morning before the start, so there is no need to go anywhere the day before. Parking is along Union Street and in a lot across from the church. The race falls during the church's annual Creole Festival, and sweet potato pies and cracklin are part of the scene after you finish.
