About the Hobe Sound Chamber Halloween Hustle 5K Trail Race

The course runs through Jonathan Dickinson State Park, putting you on natural trail surface through scrub and flatwoods. It is a solid introduction to trail running if you have only done road races, and the park setting means tree cover and wildlife rather than pavement and parking lots. Age group awards go deep across the age ranges.

Packet pickup happens over the two evenings before the race at a natural foods store and a bike shop, both in Hobe Sound. The start area is at Wilson Creek Pavilion, inside the park, and the organizers note it takes a few minutes to drive from the entrance gate to the pavilion, so arriving early helps. Refreshments are at the finish.

Common Questions About the Hobe Sound Chamber Halloween Hustle 5K Trail Race

Will I finish last at the Hobe Sound Chamber Halloween Hustle 5K Trail Race?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 44:07, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:19:37, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hobe Sound Chamber Halloween Hustle 5K Trail Race a good first 5K?

It is a small race (149 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hobe Sound Chamber Halloween Hustle 5K Trail Race?

The 5K winner ran 21:20 while the median finisher took 44:07. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
