About the High Mountain Half Marathon Decade Anniversary 2026
The half marathon runs point to point, starting high on Porter Mountain and descending into Pinetop/Lakeside, finishing on the high school track. Cedar and pine trees line most of the route, and the elevation drop keeps the air noticeably cooler than the lower desert. Shorter distances run an out-and-back from the same track. Buses carry half marathon runners to the mountain start before dawn.
Packet pickup is the evening before at Blue Ridge High School's east campus. The same school grounds serve as the finish area, so the layout is familiar by race morning. Other events share the weekend, including a glow and color run the night before and a free kids run on the track.
