About the Henry Ford Race to Health

The race runs through Cascades Park, which gives the course a park setting with enough space for both a timed run and a timed walk starting just minutes apart. A kids fun run and an untimed relay event round out the morning, so there is usually a range of ages milling around the start area. Prize money goes to the top overall and masters finishers in the run.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the park itself, with race-morning pickup opening early and closing when the walk gets underway. Results are timed professionally and texted to you shortly after you cross the finish line.

Common Questions About the Henry Ford Race to Health

Will I finish last at the Henry Ford Race to Health?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 30:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:46, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Henry Ford Race to Health a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (36 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Henry Ford Race to Health?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:51 while the median finisher took 30:09. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
