About the Hemingway 5K Sunset Run
The course starts near a corner in the historic neighborhood streets and heads toward the southernmost tip of Key West, finishing at the landmark buoy there. It runs in the evening, so the sun is low and the ocean air is thick, and the streets are narrow enough that you feel the crowd on both sides. The route is flat, and the pace of the field is wide open.
After the race, the party moves to the beach outside a cafe on Duval Street, with rum tastings, beer, snacks, and a steel drum player. Registration earlier in the day is at that same spot, so it is easy to get your bearings before the gun goes off.
