About the Harlon Block Half Marathon
The race honors Harlon Block, a Weslaco native who was among the Marines who raised the flag atop Mount Suribachi at Iwo Jima. A portion of proceeds goes toward a permanent memorial statue in his name. The course offers a couple of distance options, and the surrounding event has a big footprint, with live music, a vendor market, and family activities running alongside the race.
Packet pickup is required before race morning; anything not claimed during that window is forfeited, so plan accordingly. After you finish, the celebration continues with multiple live music acts and a post-run gathering that keeps the energy going well past the last finisher.
