About the Hangover Run 5K

The course runs mostly on asphalt, with a short stretch of hard-packed gravel near a dog park and a brief dirt section behind the high school that can hold puddles after rain. It starts and ends at Owen's Park. Strollers are welcome, and dogs can come along if they start near the back.

The race runs on New Year's Day at midday, so there is no early alarm. A portion of proceeds supports Viola's Place, a local shelter and resource center for women and children affected by domestic violence. You can add a donation at registration.

Common Questions About the Hangover Run 5K

Will I finish last at the Hangover Run 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 30:07, and the last recorded finisher came in around 57:42, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hangover Run 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (103 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hangover Run 5K?

The 5K winner ran 18:09 while the median finisher took 30:07. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
