About the Got Chocolate 5k/10k

The course runs along a bike path, starting from Xenia Station. The paved surface is smooth and flat, and the out-and-back shape means the route is straightforward to navigate. The race benefits a local nonprofit working with families facing homelessness, so the field tends to draw people who are there as much for the cause as the clock.

Parking is in the station lot right at the start. After finishing, there is a chocolate-themed spread, hot chocolate and donuts among them, set up at the finish area.

Common Questions About the Got Chocolate 5k/10k

Will I finish last at the Got Chocolate 5k/10k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 39:08, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:25:55, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Got Chocolate 5k/10k a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (86 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Got Chocolate 5k/10k?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:41 while the median finisher took 39:08. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
