The course runs through a golf course, so the ground is well-maintained and the surroundings are open and quiet. It is mostly flat with a few gentle rolls along the way. The race benefits a local police department scholarship program, which draws a crowd that feels more neighborhood than competitive circuit.
There is a water station out on the course and an electronically timed finish. Afterward, the clubhouse is open to finishers, with a complimentary drink waiting inside. It is a warm way to end a late-autumn morning.
