About the Get Lit New Year's Day Celebration
The course winds through a Winter Wonderland light display at a golf course, so the whole run is surrounded by lighted decorations rather than ordinary scenery. It is an unofficial, untimed mile, and walking is just as welcome as running. The event is built around the New Year's Day celebration as much as the run itself.
Packet pickup opens at the golf course clubhouse in the early afternoon, well before the run starts. Bonfire treats and hot cocoa are part of the scene from the start, with fire pits going throughout. After the run, a trolley circles the lighted displays for a couple of hours, and all participants can hop on.
