About the Germantown 50k and 50k Relay (2026)
The course runs through Germantown MetroPark on trail, looping through cedar forests, open prairie, and old-growth woodland with creek sections and a boardwalk stretch along Twin Creek. The hills are real, the valleys between them are quiet, and the terrain changes enough that the repeated loop format never quite feels repetitive.
Packet pickup is race morning only at the Cottonwood shelter, which also serves as the start, finish, and main aid station. Parking is split between two shelter lots, with overflow in a meadow if conditions allow, and volunteers direct traffic when the ground is too wet for that. Aid stations out on course carry peanut butter and jelly, potatoes, bananas, pickles, and possibly watermelon.
