About the Gator Wilderness Camp Trail Run/Walk 5k, 10k & 15k

The course winds through wooded terrain and shaded hammocks on the grounds of a residential school camp outside Punta Gorda. The canopy keeps things cooler than open road races, and the trail underfoot reflects genuine wilderness, not a groomed path. Several distance options mean runners can choose how deep into the property they go.

Race-morning packet pickup runs until shortly before the start, so there is no need to make a separate trip the day before. No pets and no running strollers are allowed on the trail. After the race, the post-race spread leans hearty: savory hot dishes, fresh fruit, açai bowls, and a few things for anyone who wants something sweet.

Common Questions About the Gator Wilderness Camp Trail Run/Walk 5k, 10k & 15k

Will I finish last at the Gator Wilderness Camp Trail Run/Walk 5k, 10k & 15k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 43:20, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:21:17, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Gator Wilderness Camp Trail Run/Walk 5k, 10k & 15k a good first 5K?

A field of 445 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Gator Wilderness Camp Trail Run/Walk 5k, 10k & 15k?

The 5K winner ran 20:28 while the median finisher took 43:20. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
